Value Stream Mapping (VSM) stands as VCG's pinnacle solution, offering a thorough evaluation of a designated business area or function encompassing all primary customer processes from initiation to completion.
This methodical approach to value stream analysis comprises three essential components: real-time observation of work processes from the customer's perspective, utilization of data, and integration of customer feedback.
These elements are intricately woven together to construct a narrative of the current state, providing an unembellished depiction of the “as is” environment. This serves as a foundational reference point for steering the development and execution of the envisioned future state and execution.
-
Targeted problem solving represents VCG's strategic method for addressing specific problems or challenges within a broader defined system, such as a value stream. These issues are often tightly scoped, warranting immediate action. They encompass various facets like refining workplace design, optimizing work layout and processes, establishing standard work, defining measurable outcomes, and many other potential solutions.

At VCG, Management Systems, termed as Daily Engagement Systems, serve as the bedrock for setting both long and short-term goals. They furnish the business with a framework to assess its performance against objectives and targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
These systems not only lay down objectives and establish measurement mechanisms but also equip stakeholders with tools to initiate action and foster improvement. Furthermore, they facilitate monitoring to ensure that previous enhancements are sustained over time.
At the core of management systems, AKA daily engagement systems, the goal is to empower and engage all team members and employees towards achieving organizational objectives and understanding their particular role and impact on the broader company.

VCG presents a distinctive methodology and suite of tools for guiding the strategic planning process, a pivotal undertaking for any business.
Employing VCG's collaborative and interactive approach, this process identifies and solidifies organizational priorities, identifies required energy and resources (tradeoffs), ensures alignment among all key stakeholders, and fosters consensus around intended outcomes.
A central tenet of VCG's approach involves establishing a robust governance structure and communication channels to continually evaluate the plan's progress and make timely adjustments in response to evolving internal or external dynamics. This ensures agility and adaptability in the face of changing circumstances, enhancing the plan's effectiveness and relevance over time.

VCG’s solutions in action…
Reimagine The Future (Value Stream Mapping)
Value Stream Mapping is the recommended approach when there is a need to redesign a business function or area from the time a service is requested/ needed, to the time the product or service is delivered to the customer.
Focusing on value streams will increase the focus and rigor on meeting patient and customer requirements. This will clarify where improvements are needed. The rate of improvement will be increased by the integration of functions around common standards based on the voice of the customer. The result will be lower costs, increased customer demand (growth), and an improved experience for patients’ and the care teams’.
A Value Stream is the set of all actions required to bring a specific product or service from raw material through to the customer; this includes value added and non-value added steps and actions.
Example:
Primary Care service line— an in depth, hands on, evaluation off ALL department processes from check in to check out through the lens of the patient and care team to identify the current state, redesign the future state, and set an implementation plan.
Targeted Problem Solving (RPIW or Workout)
Targeted problem solving represents VCG's strategic method for addressing specific problems or challenges within a broader defined system, such as a defined value stream. These issues are often tightly scoped, warranting immediate action. They encompass various facets like refining workplace design, optimizing work layout and processes, establishing standard work, defining measurable outcomes, and many other potential solutions.
What is the difference between a value stream approach and targeted problem solving?
RPIW/Workout Focus:
Pre-Op intake and holding process—Large volume of surgical cases scheduled for the same start time in the morning is causing huge backup and intake problems.
Any process that includes many handoffs with few signs of synchronization—including clinic/hospital workflows, registration and check in, etc., etc.
What examples do you have?
RPIW/Workout Examples:
Typical results from RPIW’s/Workouts include:
Cycle Time— 35-65% improvement.
Revenue— 15-25% improvement.
Inventory— 25-55% reduction.
Productivity— 25-100% improvement.
Return on Assets—25-70% improvement.
Soft results—Enhanced teamwork and collegiality.

At VCG, we champion the utilization of technology as the cornerstone of healthcare advancement, propelling us into the next era and beyond. With that said, we firmly believe that PEOPLE serve as the catalyst for innovation, while technology acts as the vehicle, delivering tangible solutions to address the genuine challenges faced by patients, physicians, and care teams alike.

Business strategy and planning is critical for early technology companies in identifying opportunities, defining goals, and outlining the steps needed to achieve success in a dynamic and highly regulated industry. VCG’s approach includes:
•Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to understand the current landscape, including market size, trends, and potential competitors. Identify unmet needs and areas where technology can make a significant impact on healthcare delivery and outcomes.
•Value Proposition: Clearly define the value proposition. What is the problem being solved and what sets your technology and company apart from the rest?
•Target Audience: Identify the target audience, whether it's healthcare providers, payers, patients, or a combination thereof. Understand their specific needs, challenges, and preferences to tailor the solution and messaging accordingly.
•Product Development Life Cycle: Develop the technology solution based on market insights and feedback from target users. Focus on creating a scalable and user-friendly product that addresses key pain points and delivers measurable value.
•Regulatory Compliance: Understand the regulatory landscape governing healthcare technology, including HIPAA compliance and FDA regulations for medical devices, if applicable. Ensure that your product meets all necessary regulatory requirements to maintain credibility and avoid legal issues.
•Business Model: Determine the business model, including pricing strategy, revenue streams, and distribution channels. Consider whether you'll offer a subscription-based model, per-user licensing, or a freemium model, and how you'll acquire and retain customers.
•Partnerships and Collaborations: Exploring potential partnerships with healthcare providers, technology companies, research institutions, and other stakeholders. These collaborations can help validate your solution, access new markets, and leverage existing infrastructure and expertise.
•Marketing and Sales Strategy: Building a marketing and sales strategy to effectively reach and engage your target customers. This may include digital marketing, content marketing, attending industry conferences, and establishing relationships with key opinion leaders in healthcare.
•Measuring Success: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of your business and technology implementation. This may include metrics such as user adoption, customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and clinical outcomes.
